Minimalism is Not Just Empty Space

Why true minimalism is about clarity of purpose, not just removing elements until nothing is left.

There's a misconception that minimalism means "less stuff". If that were true, a blank page would be the ultimate website.

Clarity of Purpose

True minimalism is about removing the *unnecessary* so the *necessary* may speak. It's an editing process. You aren't just deleting text; you're refining the message.

The Cognitive Load

Every element on a screen adds clarity or confusion. There is no neutral. When we remove visual clutter, we reduce cognitive load, allowing the user to focus on the task at hand.

  • **Whitespace is active**: It directs the eye.
  • **Typography is structure**: It creates hierarchy without lines.

  • Case Study: Hark
